Ian Cook
Ian Cook is a Washington, DC-based cinematographer and documentary filmmaker. He has photographed a range of documentary and narrative features, television programs, and short films. His most recent projects include the HBO’s Academy Award nominated documentary Last Truck: The Closing of GM Plant (2009), the PBS documentary Whiz Kids (2009), and the documentary feature Murphy’s Gambit: A Chess Hustler’s Story. Ian is currently completing the exploration of a West Bank kindergarten in Proximity, a documentary short slated for completion later this year.
Andre Dahlman
Andre Dahlman is a documentary filmmaker native to Washington, DC. After studying at the University of Toronto, Andre moved to New Zealand to direct the award-winning documentary Southern Faces (2004). He then returned to the District where he works as a documentary director, producer and editor. He recently completed Yes We Did: The People’s Inauguration (2010), documentary feature exploring Washington DC’s response to Barack Obama’s historic presidential inauguration. Andre is currently in post production for his third documentary feature Murphy’s Gambit: A Chess Hustler’s Story, which chronicles the life of a homeless, hustling chess savant as he attempts to get off the streets and beat an addiction to drugs.
In 2008, Andre partnered with Ian Cook to form Dahlman/Cook Productions, a film production company based in Washington, DC.
